Who We Are

A Dedicated Team of Board-Certified Clinicians

At Sunshine Behavioral Health Services, our team is built around one goal: helping every child and young adult reach their full potential. Our BCBAs (Board Certified Behavior Analysts) design individualized treatment plans based on the latest evidence in Applied Behavior Analysis. We do not use a one-size-fits-all approach. Every plan starts with a thorough assessment of your child’s strengths, challenges, and what matters most to your family.

We work across clinical, school, and home settings so therapy fits into your family’s real life. Our team stays in close communication with parents, caregivers, and teachers to make sure the progress your child makes in therapy carries over into every part of their day.

We serve families across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe Counties. If your child was recently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, or if you have been searching for the right ABA provider for a while, we are ready to help you find a path forward. We know the schools, the communities, and the challenges that families in Southeast Florida face. That local knowledge shapes how we deliver care.

Board-Certified BCBAs

Every treatment plan is designed and supervised by a BCBA.

Individualized Plans

No two children are the same. Every plan is built specifically for your child.

Family-Centered Care

We work with your family, not just your child. Parent training is part of every case.

Evidence-Based Methods

All our techniques are backed by decades of peer-reviewed research in ABA.

What We Offer

Our ABA Therapy Services

Every ABA therapy service we offer is designed around one thing — your child’s measurable progress. All services are provided across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe Counties with BCBA supervision. Services are available in English and Spanish.

Whether your child needs support at home, at school, or in both settings, we have a service designed for their situation. All services are available in English and Spanish.

01

In-home ABA therapy in Southeast Florida is delivered by a trained therapist inside your child’s home. Learning in a natural environment helps skills generalize faster. Supervised by a BCBA and available across all four counties.

02

School-Based ABA Services

School-based ABA therapy in South Florida puts our team inside the classroom alongside teachers and ESE staff. We address academic behavior, social skills, and IEP goals where they matter most — at school.

03

Parent & Family Training

Parent training in ABA therapy equips families with the exact techniques our BCBAs use every day. When parents apply these strategies consistently at home, children progress faster and skills generalize across environments.

04

A Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is the foundation of every ABA therapy plan. Our BCBAs analyze the function of your child’s behavior and use that data to design targeted, effective interventions from day one.

05

ABA therapy progress monitoring means every goal is tracked with objective data. We review treatment plans regularly and adjust based on your child’s current performance — not assumptions. Parents receive transparent progress reports throughout the program.

All Our ABA Services

Specialized Programs for Every Child's Needs

In addition to our core services, we offer specialized ABA programs designed to address specific developmental goals. Every program is supervised by a BCBA and delivered across Southeast Florida.

06

Early Intervention Program

Early ABA therapy for children aged 2 to 5 delivers the strongest long-term outcomes. Our board-certified team provides intensive early intervention in Southeast Florida to help young children build communication, play, and daily living skills before school age.

07

Center-Based ABA Therapy

Our center-based ABA therapy program provides structured, consistent therapy in a dedicated clinical environment. Center-based services are ideal for children who benefit from a focused learning setting with peer interaction opportunities and access to a full clinical team.

08

Telehealth ABA Services

Can’t make it in person? Our telehealth ABA therapy program delivers BCBA-supervised sessions and parent training remotely via secure video. Available across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe Counties with no commute required.

09

Social Skills Development

Many children with autism spectrum disorder struggle with peer interaction, reading social cues, and forming friendships. Our social skills ABA program uses evidence-based techniques to build real communication and relationship skills in natural settings.

10

Just received a diagnosis? Our team is here to help you understand what comes next. We guide families through the ABA therapy intake process, insurance verification, and first steps — so you can move from confusion to action as quickly as possible.

11

Adaptive Living Skills

We help children develop the everyday life skills they need to be more independent — hygiene routines, meal prep, self-care, community safety, and household tasks. These skills reduce caregiver burden and build lasting confidence.

What Is ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis — Evidence-Based Care That Works

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the most extensively researched and widely recommended therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder. It has been endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the US Surgeon General, and the CDC as an effective, evidence-based treatment.

ABA therapy works by understanding the relationship between behavior, environment, and learning. Our BCBAs analyze why a behavior happens and what maintains it, then design specific strategies to teach new skills and reduce behaviors that interfere with learning and daily life.

This is not a rigid, cookie-cutter approach. Modern ABA is naturalistic, child-led, and focused on building skills your child will actually use — communication, social interaction, daily living, and emotional regulation. We make therapy meaningful, not just measurable.

ABA therapy is effective for a wide range of challenges — not just autism. Children with ADHD, anxiety, developmental delays, and communication disorders also benefit from ABA-based interventions. If you are not sure whether ABA is the right fit for your child, our team is happy to talk through your specific situation at no cost.

🧠

Behavior Analysis

We study what triggers behaviors and what maintains them to design effective, targeted interventions.

🎯

Individualized Goals

Goals are based on your child’s current skills, challenges, and what matters most to your family — not a standard template.

📊

Data-Driven Progress

Every session is tracked with real data. We adjust treatment plans based on what the numbers show — not guesswork.

👨‍👩‍👧

Family Involvement

Parents are active partners in ABA therapy. We train and support families so progress continues outside of sessions.

Who We Serve

ABA Therapy for Every Stage of Childhood

We serve children and young adults across Southeast Florida from early childhood through the teenage years. The earlier therapy begins, the greater the impact — but it is never too late to start. ABA therapy can make a meaningful difference at any age when delivered by a qualified BCBA with an individualized plan.

Ages 0–5

Early Intervention

The early years are when the brain is most responsive to learning. Early ABA intervention has the strongest evidence for long-term outcomes. We work with toddlers and preschoolers on communication, social skills, and daily routines. Research shows that children who start ABA therapy between ages 2 and 5 make the most significant and lasting gains.

Ages 6–12

School-Age Children

We support school-age children inside the classroom and at home. Our team collaborates with teachers and ESE staff to address academic, behavioral, and social challenges in a coordinated way. We attend IEP meetings, support transition plans, and track school-based goals with real data.

Ages 13–21

Teens and Young Adults

Older children benefit from ABA focused on independence, social skills, vocational readiness, and community participation. We adapt our approach to match the goals that matter most at this stage of life — building independence, preparing for work or higher education, and navigating social relationships with confidence.

Our son’s school behavior has improved dramatically since starting school-based services. His teacher says he is more focused and participates in group activities now. We are so grateful.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About ABA Therapy

Parents across Southeast Florida ask us these questions every day. Here are clear, honest answers from our BCBA team.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy widely used for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental conditions. ABA works by analyzing the relationship between behavior, environment, and learning — then using proven techniques to teach new skills and reduce challenging behaviors. It is endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the US Surgeon General, and the CDC. Learn more in our ABA therapy guide.

Signs that your child may benefit from ABA therapy include: delayed speech or language development, difficulty with social interactions, repetitive behaviors, challenges with daily routines, or a recent autism diagnosis. The best way to know for certain is to schedule a free consultation with our team. We will assess your child’s needs and explain what ABA therapy can realistically achieve for them.

Yes. Florida law requires most insurance plans to cover ABA therapy for children with an autism diagnosis. This includes Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, and others. Our team verifies your insurance before your first appointment at no cost to you. Read our full insurance coverage guide for details.

In-home ABA therapy takes place in your child’s home, which allows skills to be taught in the natural environment where your child actually lives. Center-based ABA therapy is delivered in a clinical setting with structured programs and peer interaction opportunities. School-based ABA therapy supports your child inside the classroom. Many children receive a combination of settings. Our BCBA will recommend the best approach based on your child’s goals and circumstances.

The length of ABA therapy depends on your child’s individual goals, the intensity of services, and their rate of progress. Some children reach their goals within one to two years. Others benefit from longer-term support. ABA therapy is not indefinite — our BCBAs regularly review progress and recommend reducing hours or transitioning out of services when your child is ready. Read more in our guide on ABA therapy duration.

Yes. Our team includes bilingual staff who can conduct sessions, parent training, and all communications in both English and Spanish. This is especially important for many families across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Contact us to learn more about our bilingual services.
